I've been proctoring tests for the last three days. What a relief it was to get back into the media center! I even managed to mend a few more books. For most of the tears I use
Filmoplast tape from
DEMCO and then buff it with the handle of my scissors. There is some sort of bone file that you can order to go with it, but the scissors are functional enough for me. The kindergartners call my supplies "magic book tape." I have some other tapes for mending hinges and corners. My boss is going to order some more supplies. She'll be paying for them herself, since our budget is frozen. Mending books is a high priority for us.
I mended a cute book today. I highly recommend it if you know any kids or teachers who are dealing with EOG stress right now.
Ms. Malarkey and her students are getting ready to take the IPTU test. If you're into that sort of thing, there are even
lesson plans for it. One of the big ways I use technology at home and at work is to find out about books, lesson plans, and supplies.
